Living Without A Microwave

As of yesterday my home is microwave free. The microwave we have been using is my daughters. Our microwave broke just at the time she was moving out of her old place and needed to store a few things here. So we never purchased a new one, we just used hers. Now she is in a new apartment and has taken her microwave back.
Years ago when they first came out I absolutely did not want one in the house as I was concerned about the health risks of using it. So we did not get one for quite some time. All of my friends had one and were amazed that we could live without it. Then my husbands friend at work was giving one away and the next thing you know there was a microwave in my kitchen that was being used daily.
Can we live without it? I guess time will tell. Maybe my husband will give in and buy a new one. My kids already miss it. As for me I would rather live without it. I have thought about purchasing the Nu Wave Oven that I have seen on T.V. You can go from frozen to cooked in just minutes. I have even thought about a toaster oven. Yes, microwave ovens are very convenient but I think we need to consider the affect they may have on our family's health.

Healthy Skin

Taking good care of our bodies is more than just watching what we eat, what we drink, and being sure to get enough exercise. We also need to take care of our skin. Our skin is our bodies largest organ. The skin protects the body and keeps it at just the right temperature. If the pores on our skin are clogged it is harder for the impurities in our body to be eliminated through the skin. Using a loofah, a dry brush or an exfoliating fiber washcloth daily will help remove dead skin cells, keep your pores open and leave you feeling clean and refreshed.

Reusable Shopping Bags

Billions of plastic bags end up in our landfills every year. These bags are toxic to our environment and a danger to our wildlife. Purchasing reusable bags is a great alternative. They are actually very roomy and can hold more than the plastic bags you get at the supermarket. Be sure and keep the bags in your car so they are readily available when you need them. Purchase enough for your shopping needs. I have about 10 reusable bags myself. Here are just a few places you can find reusable shopping bags flip and tumble , eco bags , Enviro Sax.

Air fresheners are a $1.72 billion industry in the United States. An estimated 75 percent of homes use them regularly.
